President Obama names Sofidel as a best practise of foreign investment in the US

Monday, June 19, was surely a very special day in the life of Italian Group Sofidel, second in Europe in the tissue sector, and renowned specially for its brand Regina. It doesn’t happen very often to be mentioned by the President of the United Stated as one of the best examples of foreign investments in the country. A best practice.

In his speech to the Investment Summit SelectUSA, the most important event to promote direct foreign investments in the US, president Barack Obama said: “At last year’s summit an Italian tissue company opened a partnership with Ohio and next month in Circleville it will start building a production plant, which will create hundreds of new jobs in an area of the Midwest where they are most needed. It will be the most important private investment in Circleville in the last decades, and it started right here, at Select USA.”

The company Obama was talking about is Sofidel. The group entered the U.S. market in 2012 and has recently decided to invests over $300 million in three years. The most important site will be Circleville, Ohio, as pointed out by the President.

Sofidel has plants in Florida (Haines City), Wisconsin (Green Bay), Nevada (Henderson), Oklahoma (Tulsa), Mississipi (Hattiesburg) and offices in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania).
