Emilia Romagna

Emilia Romagna is one of Italy's most affluent- and industrious -regions. It is famous as much for its food as it is for its cars and motorcycles. There's the balsamic vinegar from Modena and the prosciutto cured ham from Parma. Nearby, the Barilla group makes all types of pasta and other processed food for export. Closer to Bologna, there's the trio of luxury car makers Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. Premium motorcycles are made by Ducati. The region is also the birthplace of opera composer Giuseppe Verdi and opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.
