Costituzione italiana

The foundation of the Italian Republic. It entered into force on January 1, 1948, after Italians voted in a 1946 referendum to opt for a republic instead of a monarchy. It's composed of 139 articles, split into four sections. The first article of the Constitution affirms that: “Italy is a Democratic Republic, founded on work. Her sovereignty belongs to the people, who exercise it within the guidelines and limits set by the Constitution.”
