Current position: Calenda is Economic Development Minister in the government from December 12, 2016.
Previous: Economic Development Minister from May 10, 2016, to December 4, 2016. Calenda was the Italian Permanent Representative to the European Union in Brussels from mid-March. In February 2014 he was confirmed by the Prime Minister Renzi as Vice Minister for Economic Development, after having been appointed by a previous government in May 2013. Until June 2011 he served as Chief Executive Officer at Interporto Campano. From 2004 to 2008 he was Assistant to the President of Confindustria, responsible for International Affairs, and then Director of the Strategic Business Area. He mainly dealt with the development and implementation of international business missions. Before joining Confindustria, he was responsible for product marketing and programming for satellite broadcaster Sky Italia. Before that, he served as Responsible for relationship with financial institutions and for Customer Relationship Management at Ferrari.
Education: Holds a law degree from the University of Rome
